Blue Origin continue operating amidst COVID-19 pandemic: Jeff Bezos’ company deemed as ‘future national security’ value!

Blue Origin continue operating amidst Coronavirus pandemic

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced all business houses to close their operations. But, that has not deterred Jeff Bezos. The richest man in the world currently keeps his company in full operating mode. The government has declared his company as a matter of ‘National Security‘. So, he keeps working and includes all of his employees at work. Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company, Blue Origin seems to be in good health amidst the COVID-19 crisis. As economies are falling around the globe, the company does not seem to be bothered. It is kept open for a lot of reasons. Because it has a lot of pending contracts.

Why is Blue Origin still open?

Blue Origin launched in 2000 by Jeff Bezos is going to make space tourism a reality.

It received multiple billion-dollar contracts throughout the years which aim to bring both humans and cargo into Earth’s orbit. Along with one for developing a lunar lander for the 2024 mission moon.

Blue Origin, along with 2 other companies, won a $2.3 billion dollar contract in 2018. Blue Origin was awarded $500 million to produce its New Glenn rocket system. It will carry both, humans and cargo into space. The company has a partnership with defense contractor Lockheed Martin to build a Moon lander for NASA.

Many states have issued stay-at-home policies and have forced the non-essential businesses to close. President Trump said this could last until April 30th. The Department of Homeland Security and of Defense has issued guidance pertaining to mission-essential activities necessary to preserve the defense industrial base. The plan could ultimately serve as a stepping stone for colonization of the moon and deeper space targets, Bezos suggested.

Currently, fatality is increasing in the US. 2,600 people have died of COVID-19. People should stay at home. Self-quarantine still proves to be the best way to prevent COVID-19 infections. Amazon is still closed.
