The Coronavirus pandemic is spreading fast. The virus normally spreads through human interaction. Researchers now claim the virus can spread through your eyes too. But no need to worry. Because scientists have come up with a solution. Wear spectacles. Do not use contact lenses anymore. Because while using contact lenses you touch your eyes, where the virus can spread from your hands. But wearing specs will prevent you from touching your eyes. This helps stop the spread of the virus.
The contact lens harms the entire human body with COVID-19. Not only do you touch your eye, but also your mouth and face with the same hands just because you are trying to remove the lens at times. Dr. Thomas Steinemann, a clinical spokesperson for the American Academy of Ophthalmology said: “You touch your eye and then you touch another part of your body”.
Contact lens wearers: switching to glasses may be a good idea during the #COVID19 outbreak. You’ll be less likely to touch your eyes. Read more from @CNN and Academy spokesperson @DrSteinemannMD: https://t.co/SWGjin1eNf #ProtectingSightEmpoweringLives #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/vwbUcI5Pr6

You rub your eyes, then rub your face, scratch your face, put your fingers in your mouth, put your fingers in your nose. Some people are not that hygienic. While some forget to wash their hands entirely. Glasses will provide protection from any coronavirus particles floating in the air, Steinemann said, even though it’s more likely that you will be infected by your mouth and nose.
Lens wearing individuals are also susceptible to Conjunctivitis. It is an inflammation of the eye. A transparent layer of tissue called the conjunctiva, that covers the white part of the eye and the inside of the eyelid gets infected. It’s moist and nice and hospitable for viruses, in fact, there are a lot of organisms that can stick very readily to your conjunctiva, or for that matter, stick on a contact lens that is also resting on your conjunctiva.
Always wash your hands, always use hand sanitizer. Do not touch your face. Do not rub your eye. Stay safe stay healthy.
