Garmin fitness devices used to make a lot of noise in the industry due to its top-notch security and the way the device lets you stay connected 24/7. However, the smartwatch is not as intelligent as it appears to be. The company faced a massive ransomware attack due to which users are not able to sync their data over the last 24 hours. The outage affected the entire organization as Garmin wearables, apps, and even their support call centers stopped working instantly.
The official website reads the following message “We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin.com and Garmin Connect. This outage also affects our call centers, and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails, or online chats. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for this inconvenience.” This actually shows the scale at which the outage took place and the attack is also huge.
Garmin fitness devices face a ransomware attack
Garmin fitness devices have recently come against Wasted Locker which could finally crack the security of the apps and laid down a ransomware attack that shook the company. The company is currently facing all sorts of problems and customers are enraged due to zero support assistance.

The attack was severe enough to shut down Taiwan factories for two days of maintenance to deal with the issue. Officially the company has not said that it will be responding to a virus attack. But the result is quite visible. Any kind of ransomware attack is enough to cause mainframe problems.
Wasted Locker is a ransomware attack that caused outages worldwide and is currently affecting many companies. As far as the smartwatches are concerned users will be able to get back connectivity within a day.
