This new finding its light into the potential discovery of an anti-cancer drug. According to the study, this drug will not cure cancer by removing tumors. But it will actually increase the activity of cancer cell suppressor proteins. Previous reports about the PP2A protein made scientists believe the idea of a possible off-switch in Cancer cells. The PP2A protein is a Cancer cell inhibitor that helps kill cancer cells and shrink malignant tumors.
The cell inhibitor protein was known to scientists for a long time. But, no one could create a drug. This is because the site of attachment was unknown until now. By using cryo-electron microscopes the scientists did an extraordinary job to help find the attachment site of the Protein in a cancer cell.
But Cancer is not the only disease that PP2A cures. Other than being a cancer cell inhibitor, it also regulates cardiovascular issues and neurological disorders. Researchers are optimistic about this new science marvel. Maybe one day PP2A will help cure diseases like Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
