Researchers have finally found something interesting that solves an old mystery about Bermuda Triangle. But it also adds to the list of worrying activities for all geologists. It looks like the Earth’s magnetic field is losing its usual intensity. Earth has a generally high magnetic field which is important to sustain life on this planet. This actually helps protect life from the charged particles released from the Sun and other cosmic radiations.
The intensity of the Earth’s magnetic field is the least in a stretch of the area between Africa and South America. However, the intensity has been constantly decreasing for the last 5 years. The region of this geographic turmoil is known as the South Atlantic Anomaly.
Magnetic Field of Earth: Bermuda Triangle and Satellites
Scientists are constantly studying the magnetic interpolations of the planet. According to their research Earth is about to reverse its magnetic poles, this means that the North Pole will switch the South Pole. However, this phenomenon is not new to our planet. Apparently the Earth switched its magnetic poles almost 780,000 years ago.
The ‘South Atlantic Anomaly' is an area of 🌏 where our magnetic field, the shield that protects us (and our #EO satellites) from being bombarded by charged particles, is weaker.
Why is it this way? @esa's #SwarmMission is helping us solve the mystery: https://t.co/ooq7dd8Y4a pic.twitter.com/i0sDSejLJq

According to the official report from ESA, the South Atlantic Anomaly is causing trouble for space vessels flying through the area, along with other technical issues in the region. This may be the reason why the Bermuda Triangle appears so mysterious. The entire phenomenon is a result of researchers of the European Space Agency (ESA). They used data from the Swarm constellation, a group of satellites belonging to the space agency. The satellites in Swarm are specifically designed to identify and take measurements of various magnetic signals. Together they make up the magnetic field of our planet, thus allowing experts to notice areas that have lost some of their intensity.
Recently the Earth’s North magnetic pole was shifting at almost 60km/year. All of these events point to a dangerous and troubled future waiting for us. What do you think of this?
