Mitron is a new application that is out to dominate the social media sector. The new app is an alternative to TikTok. Due to this, it has recently gained a lot of popularity in a short time. It is mainly because of the reason that people are trying to ban and boycott TikTok from India. Mitron is the app that tries to mock with the popular addressing name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But, the app is originally a ripoff of Pakistani social media sharing app, TicTic.
TicTic is an app that was first created by a Pakistani company, Qboxus. The main problem of the new app is not its national relationship. It is mainly about the hidden vulnerability inside the app. This is the main reason why people are advised to not install this app.
Mitron App: Security issue
The vulnerability of the app is not a direct data theft attempt. However, it is on a similar level of hackers. The flaw doesn’t allow any bad actor to steal personal information such as the email ID that a user has used to sign up an account on the Mitron app. However, it can exploit to gain access to the profile of the affected user. The Mitron app is so far exclusive to Android and has reached over 50 lakh downloads on Google Play.
The Mitron app came into limelight as an India-made solution to counter TikTok. Some reports claimed that it was a product of a student of IIT Roorkee. However, on Friday, it was reported that the app is not made in India and brought from a Pakistani software developer firm Qboxus.
