The questionable credibility of ‘WHO’ and how it propagates its own agenda

WHO-on-Coronavirus

World Health Organisation was established on 7 April 1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations solely responsible for international public health. The organization has been doing the same for many years, until recently. In a survey analysis, the majority of Hongkongers do not trust the COVID-19 related data published by WHO.

First detected in the Hubei province of China, the Coronavirus infected more than 50,000 people in the region. WHO was still not ready to declare the disease as a pandemic. This outright behavior shows more about WHO than it does about COVID-19.

Right now Coronavirus has killed 15,000 individuals globally and rising as you read. The question is, why WHO, which plays a major role in disease-fighting and prevention, has been a frustrating actor in a situation of crisis?

Coronavirus is serving as the penultimate test of our organization. Our weaknesses – an ignorant bureaucracy only sensitive to the political desires of member states. WHO’s failure was apparent during its much-criticized response to the Ebola crisis in 2014-16.

How WHO works?

The WHO chief walks a tightrope trying to lead the global health-care response. He has to keep smooth transactions open with China and also avoid unnecessary panic. Where’s the problem? one might ask. The problem, it seems, is that the latter two aims are often in conflict with the first.

After so many ordeals, it has been officially stated by WHO on Jan/14/2020, and I quote Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China.”

The statement clearly contradicts the previous reports about human transmission to be the primary cause of spread. Now people are in a dilemma, finding it hard to believe any data published by the World Health Organization. It is high time now, WHO should stop such irresponsible acts and stand strong, or else the future is bleak
